Mold: A Silent Killer

All molds aren't toxic, but if left to grow, they can be. So, how do we prevent this fuzzy troublemaker?

It doesn't even need a constant source of water to sustain life, which isn't a very comforting fact. Mainly all it needs is a wet or damp surface to be a menace. Mold can be in your walls, shoes or on your food, and those are just places you can see. What about hidden places, like under carpets, in the attic and appliances? All molds aren't toxic, but if left to grow, they can be. So, how do we prevent this fuzzy troublemaker? Mold and mildew are both types of fungus. Even good mold like the Penicillium Species, used to make penicillin, is a bad mold. Mold is often gray or black, but it can be orange, green or white. "No one knows how …

Dobbins Volunteers Gear up for Annual Roast

The annual Corn and Sausage Roast will take place July 18 and benefit the Dobbins Emergency Assistance Fund.

Sponsored by the Square and Compass Club with assistance from the Dobbins Thrift Store, the Dobbins Chiefs and First Four Groups and the Airmen and Family Readiness Office, the event is intended to promote base camaraderie and benefit the Dobbins Emergency Assistance Fund for Reservists in financial need. Building Care Packages for Deployed Airmen

Friends and families of deployed Airmen are invited to Family "Care Package" Day at Dobbins Air Reserve Base this Saturday.

This event is being hosted by the Community Outreach Committee of the Executive Support Professionals of Cobb County, local Girl Scout Troop #6115 and Dobbins Airman and Family Readiness. Attendees will have the opportunity to pack a box of free, useful items for their deployed loved ones. Last Chance: Military Academy Day

Sign up by Monday at 5 p.m. to get a hands-on demonstration of military opportunities and learn about applying for and attending one of the military service academies.

Teens can learn all about the five U.S. service academies and how to apply to attend them during the annual Military Academy Day at Dobbins Air Reserve Base on May 12.
