Until Wednesday, the district offered no explanation for Marty Galbraith's departure.
When Harrison High head football coach Marty Galbraith resigned last month, at least six women had complained to Cobb County School District officials that Galbraith had allegedly made unwanted sexual advances, gestures or remarks toward them. That revelation surfaced Wednesday in the Marietta Daily Journal, which obtained the information through an Open Records Request. Until Wednesday's report in the MDJ, the district offered no explanation for Galbraith's sudden departure. “All I can confirm is that he’s no longer employed in the district,” Cobb County Schools spokesman Doug Goodwin told Patch last month. Galbraith was hired in the spring to turn around a struggling program that went 3-7 in 2011 under head coach David Hines, who …

Marty Galbraith, who was as an assistant special teams coach for the Tennessee Titans from 2005-11, resigned from the Cobb School District last week.
Reasons remained unclear Monday on why first-year Harrison High head football coach Marty Galbraith resigned last week. Citing this being a personnel matter, Cobb School District spokesman Doug Goodwin couldn’t provide details other than Galbraith quit Wednesday and that the physical education classes he taught are being covered by a “supply teacher.” “That’s all I can confirm is that he’s no longer employed in the district,” Goodwin told Patch. Galbraith left the Hoyas with a 4-3 overall record—and 3-2 in Region 4-6A play—that includes wins over Woodstock and region rivals Campbell, Pebblebrook and Kennesaw Mountain. They’re now 4-4 after Friday’s loss to region opponent Hillgrove, and are sixth out of Region 4-6A’s nine teams. Most …

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Kennesaw Patch.
McEachern 63, Kennesaw Mountain 14 – McEachern scored just two minutes into the game Friday, according to the Marietta Daily Journal, and held Kennesaw Mountain to 128 yards of total offense. In the first five minutes of the game, McEachern had three touchdowns and would roll against the winless Mustangs. Kennesaw Mountain scored with just 16 seconds remaining in the first half, but the 42-point lead McEachern had built was too much for the Mustangs to game plan for at halftime. North Cobb 21, Harrison 17 – North Cobb jumped out to a two-touchdown lead, but had to fight for its playoff life to hold off Harrison and win, 21-17, Friday, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. North Cobb knew it controlled its own destiny. That win-and-your-…

North Cobb knocked off cross-Kennesaw rival Harrison, 21-17, Friday night to earn a spot in the Georgia High School Association’s AAAAA state playoffs. The Warriors (5-5, 4-3 in Region 4-AAAAA) stopped the Hoyas on three fourth-quarter possessions to preserve the road victory after a 21-7 halftime lead was cut to 21-17, the Marietta Daily Journal reported. That win, combined with the previous week’s 21-16 win over South Cobb, allowed North Cobb to grab the fourth seed from Region 4-AAAAA. The Warriors will open the playoffs at Region 3-AAAAA champion Camden County, which is 10-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state in the PrepCountry.com/GACA coaches poll. If the Warriors can pull off the upset more than 300 miles from Kennesaw in Kingsland, they…

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Kennesaw Patch.
North Cobb 21, South Cobb 16 – With Friday’s win North Cobb not only stopped a three-game losing streak but jumped into a tie for the fourth and final Region 4-AAAAA playoff spot with South Cobb, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. North Cobb’s defense led the way, forcing three interceptions of South Cobb passes. Hillgrove 35, Kennesaw Mountain 0 – Hillgrove remained perfect on the season with its blanking of Kennesaw Mountain Friday, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. The Mustangs slowed Hillgrove in the first quarter, but allowed 28 second-quarter points before halftime. Hillgrove’s Kenyan Drake tallied 178 rushing yards on the night while Kennesaw Mountain accumulated 114 yards of total offense. McEachern 31, Harrison 14 – …

The Mustangs, Warriors and the Hoyas all play at home while the Eagles travel.
Hillgrove (8-0, 5-0) at Kennesaw Mountain (0-8, 0-5) – The last thing any winless teams wants to see is one of the state’s powerhouse teams on the schedule. That’s Kennesaw Mountain’s conundrum tonight when it tries to find a way to upset Hillgrove. No team scores fewer points in Region 4-AAAAA play than the Mustangs, and the Hawks allow only a stingy 11 points per game to opposing teams each week. South Cobb (6-2, 3-2) at North Cobb (3-5, 2-3) – With a little help from Campbell tonight (Pebblebrook’s opponent) North Cobb could sneak back into postseason contention with a win over South Cobb. The Warriors have lost three-straight games and can’t afford to lost any more. McEachern (7-1, 4-1) at Harrison (3-5, 2-3) – For the first time this …

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Kennesaw Patch.
Harrison 28, Kennesaw Mountain 21 – Friday’s “Battle of the Bell” was a see-saw game featuring three ties and two lead changes, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. With 5:29 to play, Clay Chastain hit Kyle Holmes with a 79-yard touchdown pass to put Harrison over the top. Harrison moved to 2-3 in Region 4-AAAAA play and sits a game out of fourth place. Kennesaw Mountain is in last place at 0-5 in the region. McEachern 56, North Cobb 17 – North Cobb quarterback Tyler Queen threw for 269 yards Friday, according to the Marietta Daily Journal, but the Warriors could never get their offense established after McEachern’s Tray Fletcher romped 99 yards on a kickoff return to sway the tide of the game towards the Indians. North Cobb is in …

Harrison, Kennesaw Mountain and North Cobb all play Region 4-AAAAA games while North Cobb Christian hosts a non-region foe.
Harrison (2-5, 1-3) at Kennesaw Mountain (0-7, 0-4) – Harrison got its first Region 4-AAAAA win last week with a 30-point drubbing of Campbell. Kennesaw Mountain has yet to win a game this year and hasn’t scored in double-digits in its past two games. North Cobb (3-4, 2-2) at McEachern (6-1, 3-1) – North Cobb is tied for the final playoff spot in Region 4-AAAAA play but needs a win over fifth-ranked McEachern to ensure that it keeps pace with South Cobb. With three weeks to play, tonight’s game isn’t a must-win, but it’s close. Hebron Christian Academy (2-5, 1-3) at North Cobb Christian (1-7, 1-1) – If you’re a ‘glass half full’ sort of person consider that North Cobb Christian has scored an average of 35 points per game over the last two …

North Cobb, Harrison and Kennesaw Mountain all host games tonight while North Cobb Christian travels.
Campbell (0-5, 0-2) at Kennesaw Mountain (0-5, 0-2) – One of these teams will end its winless streak tonight when the Mustangs host the Spartans. Kennesaw Mountain is scoring more points, on average, and allowing fewer points than Campbell. Tonight should be a battle of wills. North Cobb Christian (1-5, 1-1) at Glascock County (1-4, 0-1) – The Panthers have lost two games in a row and have scored just six points over those two games. North Cobb Christian heads into Glascock County losers of its last five, but scoring points on offense. South Cobb (3-2, 0-2) at Harrison (1-4, 0-2) – Harrison has lost its last two games by just a touchdown and hung with a nationally-ranked Hillgrove team just last week. Both teams are winless in Region 4-…

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Kennesaw Patch.
North Cobb 43, Campbell 14 – North Cobb scored within the first three minutes of the game, according to the Marietta Daily Journal, and also put up 15 points before Campbell seemed to have time to blink. North Cobb has scored 40 or more points in each of its last two football games, both Region 4-AAAAA victories. Pebblebrook 21, Kennesaw Mountain 14 – Kennesaw Mountain allowed Pebblebrook to score the games first 21 points and then fell short in a comeback attempt Friday night, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Dalin Finley scored twice in the fourth quarter to give the Mustangs hope, but a late onsides kick rolled harmlessly out of bounds to seal Kennesaw Mountian’s fate. Towns County 33, North Cobb Christian 6 – Senior running …
