Kennesaw School Finishes Second in Bowl

Hayes Elementary advanced to the West Regional competition, which is scheduled for Feb. 2.

Students from 39 Cobb schools competed to be recognized as the best readers and fastest buzzers at the seventh annual Cobb County Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl held last Saturday (Jan. 19). And, the winners are: Walton High School in first place and Hillgrove High School in second. At the middle school level, Campbell Middle School took first and McCleskey Middle School took second place. At the elementary level, Birney won first place with Hayes Elementary in second place.  These teams advanced to the West Regional competition, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the University of West Georgia. Kennesaw Students Vie in Reading Bowl

Kennesaw schools will be among the 40 Cobb schools in Saturday's competition at McEachern.

The 6th Annual Cobb County School District Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl takes place on Saturday, and Kennesaw schools will be well-represented. The fast-paced academic competition, which uses a game show-style buzzer system to answer questions about books, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at McEachern High School. The following schools will be represented: The competition is preceded by a parade of schools. The top two winning teams from each level advance to next level. The state competition takes place in March.
