The Lady Hoyas will play for a state championship Saturday afternoon.
The Harrison Lady Hoyas have reached the Georgia High School Class AAAAAA soccer championship game, and they'll get to play close to home. The GHSA announced Thursday that Harrison's match against Parkview of Gwinnett County will be played at Kennesaw State University's Fifth Third Bank Stadium starting at 5 p.m. Saturday. The game is one of four scheduled for Saturday (with three others slated for Friday) at the KSU facility, which is located at 3200 George Busbee Parkway. Ticket prices are $10 a person. Harrison clinched a spot in the finals on Tuesday with a win in penalty kicks over Brookwood. The Hoyas boys team wasn't as fortunate in the semifinals on Wednesday, losing in penalty kicks to Collins Hill, also of Gwinnett. In the boys …

A matchup of two of the top three boys basketball teams in AAAAA highlights the high school sports schedule this weekend. Depending on whether you favor the Georgia Prep Country/Georgia Athletic Coaches Association poll or the Score Atlanta standings, Wheeler and Shiloh are either Nos. 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 in AAAAA right now. We'll see which team is more deserving of the high ranking and is a stronger threat to the other team in the top three, Milton, when they play at Wheeler at 6 p.m. Saturday. Holiday basketball also gets underway this weekend with the three-day Longhorn Shootout at Kell, including Kennesaw Mountain, Lassiter, Woodstock, Dunwoody, North Atlanta and Mundy's Mill. That's not true in Regions 4-AAAAA an 5-AAAA, however; both have packed schedules of region games. We know of only four varsity basketball games from Monday night across Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas and Paulding counties; those results are below.
