July 4th Fireworks to Feed the Hungry

Enjoy one of the largest fireworks extravaganzas in metro Atlanta at Cauble Park, and help support a good cause.

The City of Acworth and the Acworth Business Association want to invite residents to one of the largest fireworks extravaganzas in metro Atlanta. On Wednesday, July 4, residents can enjoy live music and fireworks at Cauble Park. Live music will start at 4 p.m., leading up to headliners "FLASHBACK" at 6 p.m. Fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m. Admission to the concert is free, and tables are available for purchase at the cost of $50 each for City of Acworth residents and $70 for non-residents. With the table you get six chairs and one parking pass. This parking pass will allow you to park at Cauble Park as long as spots remain available. Downtown Fireworks Show and Concert

Kennesaw will hold its annual pre-Independence Day event in Depot Park at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Kennesaw’s traditional pre-Independence Day Salute to America celebration will be held this Tuesday from 6 to 11 p.m. in Depot Park and on Main Street. The free event will feature live musical performances on two stages, plus one of the biggest and brightest star-spangled firework displays in North Georgia. Performers scheduled on the main stage are teen singing sensation Kaylin McClure at 6 p.m., a Neil Diamond tribute show featuring the vocal talents of Conner Lorre at 6:30 p.m. and the headlining act The Stranger, the world's most authentic tribute to the legendary Billy Joel, at 8 p.m. Family stage performers include the band Revolution, and singer-songwriters Hannah DeLane and Savannah Jade. July 4th Causes Dip in Summer Lunch Donations

The children MUST Ministries serves don’t go on vacation, but the people who help provide meals do.

by MUST Ministries While thousands of people race off to the beach or the mountains for July 4th week, area children are still racing to the MUST vans to pick up their daily lunches. “The problem is when people go on vacation, we receive fewer donated lunches, but we have the same number of hungry children,” according to Paula Rigsby, Seasonal Coordinator for MUST Ministries. MUST is now serving 3,700 children a day in six counties and desperately needs people to donate lunches during the holiday week. The children we serve don’t go on vacation, she explained, but the people who help us provide meals do. That situation creates a shortage of food that must be made up because the food has been promised to these children. There are several …

Firework Safety for Kids: Watch Out for Those Eyes

Of the approximately 9,000 fireworks-related injuries each year, 21 percent are eye injuries and more than half of the victims are young children or teenagers. Look at some of the common injuries and use precaution this Independence Day.

The Fourth of July is drawing near and barbeque preparations are underway. Fireworks are a traditional part of Independence Day celebrations, but they can also be dangerous. Children and teens are often hurt by fireworks. So, before the celebration begins, get your EyeSmart fireworks safety tips from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The university will hold its Star Spangled Spectacular event on the campus green this Saturday.

The Kennesaw State University College of Arts is gearing up for its Star Spangled Spectacular concert and fireworks show this Saturday. The pre-Independence Day celebration kicks off the university's Starlight Summer Concert Series, a summertime tradition for more than 10 years. Kennesaw State's annual summer tradition kicks off with a Star Spangled Spectacular event Saturday, June 30.

The Kennesaw State University College of Arts is gearing up for the 2012 Starlight Summer Concert Series, a summertime tradition for more than 10 years. The series of outdoor concerts kicks off with a free Star Spangled Spectacular event on the campus green Saturday, June 30, at 8 p.m. Admission opens at 6:30 p.m. The concert will feature music by the Georgia Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, culminating with a fireworks show.
