Kennesaw State has released details of a memorial in honor of Jonathan M. Garner, the 18-year-old track and field athlete who died of unknown causes just days before Christmas. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the KSU Convocation Center, 1000 Chastain Rd. Doors to the KSU Convocation Center will open at 1:15 p.m. This is at least the third memorial for Garner, a freshman from Roswell. Zion Missionary Baptist Church held a celebration of life on Jan. 3, a week after family members gathered in Walnut Grove, Miss., for Garner's funeral. A celebration of life will be held tonight for Kennesaw State track and field athlete Jonathan M. Garner, who died of unknown causes just days before Christmas. It was one week ago today that family members of the 18-year-old freshman gathered in Walnut Grove, Miss., for his funeral. However, organizers of tonight's service at Roswell's Zion Missionary Baptist Church want people to "share in the memories, stories and praise among family and friends," according to an announcement on Facebook. The celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. in the church's main sanctuary, 888 Zion Circle. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of this young student. It is hard to lose someone at this time of year, but we can take comfort that he is in a better place and is at peace.   more ›
