A new $30 million Global Research and Technology Center expected to bring 140 jobs to the Kennesaw area will open its doors during a ceremony Friday morning. Novelis, the world's largest supplier of rolled aluminum, announced in May of last year its plans to open the 60,000-square-foot facility at 1950 Vaughn Rd. in Kennesaw. According to a release, the center will develop new products and applications for the automotive, can and electronics industries in collaboration with customers like Jaguar, Coca-Cola and Samsung. The Home Depot continues the hiring process for its new Kennesaw-based contact center with openings posted this week on the company's website. In November, Gov. Nathan Deal announced The Home Depot would open the $24 million national customer service call center in Kennesaw, bringing nearly 700 new jobs to the area. The center is expected to be fully operational later this year. The following Kennesaw positions are currently listed on The Home Depot's website: Inside Sales Specialist (posted June 6). East Marietta's loss is Kennesaw's gain. Fabric.com, one of the largest fabric distributors in the country, will soon be leaving its headquarters on Franklin Road for new space in Kennesaw, The Marietta Daily Journal reported Monday. The company, which was profiled last fall in East Cobb Patch, is taking its estimated 150 employees to the 200,000 square feet of space in the Jiles Commerce Center on Jiles Road. The newspaper reported the expansion could enable the company to grow to 200 employees and possibly more. The Cobb Chamber of Commerce estimates that $4 million will be invested in the new Fabric.com facility in order to keep the company and the jobs in the county.
