Kennesaw plans to chop down 330 trees that have become a safety issue in the city's Legacy Park community. According to CBS Atlanta, Kennesaw will spend between $50,000 and $75,000 to remove trees that have caused sidewalks to buckle and about $140,000 to repair 700 sections of damaged sidewalks. But not everyone in Legacy Park is happy that the trees are coming down. Several residents told CBS Atlanta that they worry about the impact to the community's look.

Cobb County's Michael Hinojosa talks about technology, college prep and today’s students at a town hall meeting in the Legacy Park community.
Appearing relaxed and open, new Cobb County Schools Superintendent Michael Hinojosa spoke about his goals and answered dozens of questions at a town hall meeting presented by the Legacy Park Education Committee at the Legacy Park Clubhouse on Tuesday night. Hinojosa, who became the district’s 20th superintendent in July, said early in his roughly 85-minute appearance before about 40 people that he usually gets along with school boards. “I’ve been doing this 18 years, and I’ve worked with 75 board members, and only two or maybe five I didn’t get along with,” the 32-year educator said with a chuckle. “But none of your board members have ill will. We have to work with these guys because they’re in for the next two or four years.” Primrose …

The third and final phase of the $23 million road expansion is projected to be completed in two years.
Construction intended to relieve traffic congestion by widening Jiles to a four-lane road entered its third and final phase Monday. Workers and heavy landscaping equipment will soon be seen tearing up the area between Baker Road and Highway 41, the last stretch of road to be renovated over the next two years. Project History The project in its entirety was first placed before the City Council of Kennesaw around 1996, according to Mayor Mark Mathews. Since then, it has undergone several phases of approval and review, until it was ultimately granted funding through the 2005 SPLOST. The bill is projected to settle around $23 million by the time construction is completed on July 18, 2013. This final phase will make up $11 million of the total…

People of Legacy Park, please get over your special privileges that you seem to think you have over the rest of the city. OK we know most of the city council and mayor live in your little bit of heaven (LOL) still not a reason to think you are above the rest of us here in Kennesaw. I hate that 330 trees will be cut down as well but as per the normal the city did not plan well enough for the …   more ›
