Area Closures, Detours and Road Work Updates

Check out the latest updates on road constructions, delays and detours around Cobb County.

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Cobb County, according to Commissioners Bob Ott, Helen Goreham, JoAnn Birrell and Lisa Cupid. Davidson Road to Willow Point Pkwy Willow Point Pkwy to Timber Ridge Road Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass GDOT I-285 Top-End Resurfacing Project Expect delays as Georgia DOT continues working on a $56 million resurfacing project on I-285. Crews will resurface 10 miles of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Ashford Dunwoody Road in DeKalb County. Most work will take place nights and weekends. Decision Day for Cobb Runoff Races

Voters today will decide on a Cobb Commission Chairman, a South Cobb Commissioner and a State Court Judge, among other offices.

The combative three-week period between Tim Lee and Bill Byrne in the Cobb Commission Chairman's runoff campaign is nearing an end.  Voters go to the polls again today to decide on whether to keep Lee, the incumbent, or return Byrne to his old position after a 10-year absence.  Since there is no Democratic opponent in November, the winner of this battle between Republicans will be elected chairman for the four-year period starting in Jan. 2013. Cobb voters also will decide countywide offices for a State Court judgeship and for Superior Court Clerk, as well as other local races, including the District 4 Cobb Commission seat, where incumbent Woody Thompson has Democratic opposition. Yes Mark I voted . As I always do. I use my Grandmothers maiden when I post as I do bussness with the city at times and and dont want my personal polatics to get in the way of my people getting contract jobs with the city.
