About 16,000 parks received votes in Coca-Cola's America Is Your Park contest. Swift-Cantrell was one of just four parks to receive a monetary award from the Coca-Cola's Live Positively Foundation.
During today's Worldwide Day of Play at Swift-Cantrell Park, Coca-Cola presented a check for $15,000 that "will allow us to invest in exercise equipment along the trail much sooner than we might have otherwise," Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews said. Coca-Cola will present the grant during a ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the park.
After receiving nearly 3 million online votes in Coca-Cola's "America Is Your Park" contest, Swift-Cantrell Park has won a $15,000 grant to install exercise stations along park trails. Swift-Cantrell was randomly selected to receive the "wildcard" recreation grant after people from across the country voted for six weeks for their favorite national, state and local parks. Coca-Cola will present the grant to Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews and Swift-Cantrell Park Foundation president R.J. Patel during a ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the park.
