Kennesaw Family Grows Online Business Together

A Kennesaw couple started an Internet search site to bring family together and help contribute to an uncertain economy.

For more than a year, Kennesaw resident Ken Adams left his family and friends and traveled back and forth to Missouri for a job. Now he is back home and using his online expertise to bring his family and the local business community closer together. Ken and Donna Rae Adams have launched GeorgiaLocalSearch.com, a hyperlocal search site designed to serve local online shopping needs of consumers at home, in the office or on the road. Why start a business in a struggling economy? "I think it's a great time to start a business," said Ken Adams, who has over 27 years experience in online advertising. Small Businesses Look for Better Sales

A special day for them followed a record-setting Black Friday for holiday sales.

Small businesses around Kennesaw were hoping for a good sales day Sautrday as the holiday buying season started and Small Business Saturday was publicized throughout the nation. Small Business Saturday, sponsored by American Express, urged shoppers to spend their holiday dollars at local businesses the day after Black Friday. The day is dedicated to supporting small businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year. Diane at Alisha's Hallmark Shop in Kennesaw said they were "pretty busy" on Saturday. So far, she said, the store is "a little bit over" in sales this year as compared with last year. Barbecue Street Restaurant on Cherokee Street in Kennesaw saw a big week leading up to Thanksgiving Day, with folks ordering turkey…

You could go to the big box stores, but why not patronize the local stores around Acworth and Kennesaw?
