Facebook Tip Leads to Kennesaw Man
He's been arrested in connection with the armed robberies of three Smyrna Subway locations.
Social media helped the Smyrna Police Department catch a Kennesaw man wanted in connection with the armed robberies of three Subway restaurants. On Feb. 1, Smyrna authorities posted surveillance footage of the suspect on the city's Facebook page and asked the public to call the police department with any leads. That move provided detectives with the break that they needed in the case. Someone recognized the man in the footage as 30-year-old John Paul Wigart, said Officer Michael E. Smith, the spokesman for the department. Wigart was arrested this week and charged with three counts of armed robbery and three counts of possession of firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies. Falsely accused. Judge threw the case out, but he lost his job during this time. He sat in jail for a month. It took took less than a day to be proven not guilty, but lost his job and promising career. Great job social media and Smyrna PD. He doesn't look like the robber if you met him. Hope the person who "tipped" him to the police sleeps well, a-hole. Ruined a young mans life.   more ›
