The end of Thanksgiving feasts and pro football ushers in the Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa shopping season. Assuming nothing bad happens, knock on wood, Black Friday isn't serious, hard news, but it is a part of many of our lives. So we'll be bringing you stories, photos and videos from the shopping scene around the area all day. You also can use the map above to check on the traffic around your store or mall of choice. Patch editors have compiled the best Black Friday deals available in store and online, plus the opening times of area stores.
The mall will open its doors at midnight Thanksgiving night and will remain open until 10 p.m. Friday. Twenty-six stores will open at midnight, with the remainder opening between 2 and 4 a.m. The early openers: Midnight 2 a.m. 3 a.m. There will be many activities at the mall Friday. They include: After 4 a.m., the first 100 people who go to Guest Services on the upper-level Center Court will receive a free Town Center at Cobb Holiday tumbler. The department store is hosting online specials that will run through Saturday. Additionally, most stores, including the one in Town Center, will open at midnight. Icons describe road construction and incidents, and major thoroughfares are color-coded to show the latest traffic flow. Sometimes it happens. Plans change, sickness occurs, or a host of other last-minute changes can alter your holiday meal plans. But not to worry. Kroger and Publix supermarkets both have deals on a fully-cooked Turkey Day meal--but the sooner you order, the better. Kroger offers a meal that serves 6-8 people for $39.99 and includes a turkey, gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes, and rolls. A meal for 10-12 includes the same foods for $59.99. Publix offers a similar package for $39.99 for 7-10 persons. It includes a 10-12 lb. turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy and a dessert cobbler.
