WellStar Health System has filed a letter of intent with the state to create a $12.7 million pediatric diagnostic center in Kennesaw, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. WellStar spokesman Keith Bowermaster said the health system is awaiting certificate of need approval, which regulates the construction of health care facilities. It filed the CON application on Aug. 31, according to the MDJ. The center, which is scheduled to open in May 2014, will be at the former site of Progressive Lighting, 1180 Barrett Pkwy. NW.
