Dutch-Next time I want to know what William is saying I'll ask him if I have any doubt. I don't think he needs you to translate for him as he seems to have a pretty good command of the English language.

No, not end of discussion. Just because it's private does not stop people from having an opinion on the subject of the obvious racial bias of the private proms need to be segregated by race. We still have free speech in this country and that extends to Governor Deal as well, both as a politician and as a man!

ReplyWasn't there just a question before the Supreme Court about whether some southern states should continue to be monitored for voting rights violations because of prior demonstrated racism? Now you ask whether Governor Deal should publicly support an integrated prom in Wilcox County Georgia or not because they currently hold two proms, one for whites and one for people of color? If racism were truly dead in the South I say we wouldn't be asking either of these questions in my humble opinion.

Then explain how from 1900 to 1970 there was an average of 4 mass public shootings per decade and after the 70's when the mental hospitals were emptied the average shot up to to 13. In the 3.3 decades since 1980 mass shootings have skyrocketed to an average of 36 per decade. If we are doing such a great job with mental health why such a huge increase in mass shootings? James Holmes psychiatrist even warned the police about him before the Aurora shooting.

You know what really worries me is that with all these incidents we sit around and debate whether or not we shoould arm firefighters, teachers and such or do away with gun free zones, have more background checks for gun purchasers etc. yet no one seems to be looking at the elephant in the room. I refer you to an article wrriten by Ann Coulter which appeared in the Marietta Daily Journal on April 11th http://mdjonline.com/bookmark/22228507-Liberals-still-ignoring-mental-health-aspects-of-the-gun-control-equation which discusses the issue of mental health as it relates to the gun issue. That my friends is the elephant in the room that no one wnats to discuss and until we do we will not make any meaningful progress on the gun issue no matter what we choose to do in my humble opinion.

The following information is taken directly from the city website:
The purpose of the Kennesaw Citizens Advisory Committee (KCAC) is to evaluate various initiatives, proposals, and programs from a citizen’s perspective and develop recommendations for the Mayor, Council and city staff.
The KCAC meets the 4th Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm in the City Hall Council/Court Chambers, but may meet more frequently based on project demands. Participation is strictly voluntary until January of 2013, when members will be appointed by Mayor and Council.Qualifications: members should be residents of Kennesaw or the surrounding neighborhoods. Committee composition is designed to give representation to all population areas of the city.

The next meeting of the Kennesaw Citizens Advisory Committee is April 25, at the City Council chambers if you care to attend. They are giving input on the proposed ordinance as well as other things concerning the citizens of Kennesaw and are looking for new members. The preliminary ordinance should be on the agenda for discussion I think. You could also contact the city manager Steve Kennedy at City Hall and probably get a copy from him.

Mrs. Lyon
I simply responded to your attack on me that I should get off my rear end and help my neighbors out with money and labor without knowing anything about me personally which made no logical sense.
You are correct that the city could use the Blight ordinance to take ownership of property but why would they go to all the trouble of writing new law when they could use the eminent domain law that is already on the books if that were the intention? Again, your argument makes no logical sense!
I suggest you check out the following link http://www.gmanet.com/MDR.aspx?CNID=72899.

The above link will take you to the Georgia Municipal Association website where you may open a PDF template of the ordinance used in Griffin, Georgia. This is the same as the one being used to fashion the Blight ordinance for Kennesaw.

I think there are two schools of thought on this----
If you are in the older generation you don't like it and think that this kind of langage should not be used period.
If you are in the younger generation you hear this kind of language so much and it is so common place that you think nothing of it.
Either way I think the station fring him was an over reach considering his lack of experience.
